Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
