Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the break of Day 1 and ten nights (of pilgrimage or the last ten days of Ramadan), 2 The multiple and the one, 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Truly in that there is an oath for those who possess understanding. 5 Bethinkest thou not in what wise thy Lord did with the 'A'ad: 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 The like of whom were never created in the realm; 8 And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley? 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 Who terrorised the region, 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 Indeed nothing is hidden from the sight of your Lord. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 And if He tests him and restricts his livelihood thereupon he says, “My Lord has degraded me!” 16 (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans, 17 And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor. 18 And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? 23 He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 (To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
Almighty Allah's Truth.
