Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad, 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? 8 And with Thamud who carved rocks in the valley; 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 who all were insolent in the land 11 And multiplied corruption. 12 Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. 13 Most surely your Lord is watching. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 No! But you do not honor the orphan 17 and you urge not the feeding of the needy, 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 and love the riches, loving them ardently. 20 Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, 27 "Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 Enter then My garden." 30
