Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he has made no effort to pass on the path that is steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
