The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 (It is) Freeing a neck (slave, etc.) 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the People of the Right Hand. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
