The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 Consider the day as it reveals the world, 3 and by the night when it enshrouds him! 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
