The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
