The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
