Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 by the night, when it envelops it! 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 and imbued it with (the consciousness of) its evil and its piety: 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He does not fear the consequence. 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
