The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
