Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
