The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
