Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
