The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And affirms goodness, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
