The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
