Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
