The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 They do not expect any reward 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
