The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
