The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
