The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
