The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
