Al-A 'araaf 12 of 24
And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah]. 94 then We gave them in the place of evil good, till they multiplied, and said, 'Hardship and happiness visited our fathers.' So We seized them suddenly, unawares. 95 And if the people of the towns had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have opened up for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they rejected, so We overtook them for what they had earned. 96 Do the inhabitants of the villages feel secure from Our Might coming to them at night whilst they sleep? 97 What! do the people of the towns feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they play? 98 Did they then feel secure against the Plan of Allah. None feels secure from the Plan of Allah except the people who are the losers. 99
