Does it not guide the people who inherit the land from former people that We can punish them for their sins if We will? And seal up their hearts so that they would not be able to lend an ear to words of guidance? 100 Such were the townships. We relate some tidings of them unto thee (Muhammad). Their messengers verily came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but they could not believe because they had before denied. Thus doth Allah print upon the hearts of disbelievers (that they hear not). 101 And We found no covenant in most of them; and most of them We found ungodly. 102 Then We sent, after them, Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his Council, but they did them wrong; so behold thou, how was the end of the workers of corruption! 103 Moses said, "Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of the Universe, 104 duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me." 105 The Pharaoh asked Moses to show his miracles if he was telling the truth. 106 Thereupon Moses threw his rod, and suddenly it was a veritable serpent. 107 And he drew out his hand, and behold! it was white to all beholders! 108
