The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We inspired Moses to throw his staff, and suddenly it began to swallow-up all that the magicians had (falsely) invented. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 And thus were they vanquished there and then, and became utterly humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
