And [so, O Prophet,] if they give thee the lie, say: "To me [shall be accounted] my doings, and to you, your doings: you are not accountable for what I am doing, and I am not accountable for whatever you do." 41 Some of them appear to be listening to you; but can you make the deaf hear, incapable as they are of understanding? 42 And some of them look unto thee; what, wilt thou then guide the blind, though they do not see? 43 Verily Allah wrongeth not mankind in aught but mankind wrong themselves. 44 And on the Day when He shall gather (resurrect) them together, (it will be) as if they had not stayed (in the life of this world and graves, etc.) but an hour of a day. They will recognise each other. Ruined indeed will be those who denied the meeting with Allah, and were not guided. 45 And whether We show thee [in this world something of what We hold in store for those deniers of the truth,] or whether We cause thee to die [before that retribution takes place - know that, in the end,] it is unto Us that they must return; and God is witness to all that they do. 46 Every nation has its Messenger; then, when their Messenger comes, justly the issue is decided between them, and they are not wronged. 47 They ask, "If you (believers) speak the truth, when will your promise (about the Day of Judgment) be fulfilled?" 48 Say: I have no power to hurt or benefit myself, save that which Allah willeth. For every nation there is an appointed time. When their time cometh, then they cannot put it off an hour, nor hasten (it). 49 Ask them, "What benefit can criminals get from their demand that God must punish them immediately if His words are true?" Whether His punishment befalls them during the day or night (they will not be able to escape). 50 What, when it has come to pass, will you then believe in it? Now, when already you seek to hasten it!' 51 Then the evil-doers will be told, "Taste the everlasting punishment. Have you not been rewarded according to your deeds?" 52 And they ask information of you, [O Muhammad], "Is it true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord. Indeed, it is truth; and you will not cause failure [to Allah]." 53
