If We give man a taste of Mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy. 9 If We let him taste Our favours after adversity, he says: "Misfortune has left me," and begins to brag and exult, 10 Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds, those: theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise). 11 You may [feel the inclination] to leave aside a part of what is revealed to you and you may be distressed because they say, "Why has no treasure been sent down to him, why has no angel come with him?" But you are only to give warning. God is the guardian of all things. 12 Or say they: he hath fabricated it? Say thou: bring ye then ten Surahs the like thereunto fabricated, and call whomsoever ye can beside Allah, if ye say sooth. 13 Then if (your deities) do not respond to your call for help then feel assured that this Book was revealed with the knowledge of Allah, and that there is no true god but Him. Will you, then, surrender (to this truth)? 14 We shall pay those who desire the present life and its adornments in full for the work they have done therein, they shall not be defrauded; 15 Yet these are the people for whom there is nothing but Fire in the world to come. Fruitless will be what they have fashioned, and whatever they have done will perish. 16 So is the one who is upon the clear proof* from his Lord, and comes a witness upon it from Allah, and before it the Book of Moosa, a leader and a mercy; they accept faith in it; and whoever denies it from all the groups, then the fire is promised for him; so O listener, do not have any doubt concerning it; indeed it is the truth from your Lord; but most people do not believe. (* The Jews who accepted faith in the Qur’an.) 17 Who doeth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie concerning Allah? Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say: These are they who lied concerning their Lord. Now the curse of Allah is upon wrong-doers, 18 Who debar (men) from the way of Allah and would have it crooked, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 19 Such people will never weaken God's (power) on earth nor will they find any guardian besides God. Their punishment will be doubled and they will not be able to hear or see. 20 Those are they that have lost their souls, and that they forged has gone astray from them; 21 In the Hereafter, it is they who shall be the greatest losers. 22 Indeed those who believed and performed good deeds and directed themselves towards their Lord – they are the people of Paradise; they will abide in it forever. 23 ۞ The example of the two groups is like one being blind and deaf, and the other seeing and hearing; are they equal in condition? So do you not ponder? 24
