We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 till the appointed time. 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 (To which God) said: "This way is right by Me. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
