Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 "And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)." 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
