AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 and the curse shall be on you till the Day of Judgement!" 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
