We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 for an appointed time." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
