When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
