And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
