And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
