The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has sent down to His slave (Muhammad SAW) the Book (the Quran), and has not placed therein any crookedness. 1 [a divine writ] unerringly straight, meant to warn [the godless] of a severe punishment from Him, and to give unto the believers who do good works the glad tiding that theirs shall be a goodly reward 2 wherein they will remain [in a state of bliss] forever. 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 a thing about which they have no knowledge, neither they nor their ancestors. Dreadful is the word that comes out of their mouths. What they utter is merely a lie. 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 We have adorned the earth with attractive things, so that We may test mankind as to which one is best in conduct, 7 Let it be known that We will turn all things on earth into dust. 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 We lulled them to sleep in that cave for a number of years 11 and thereafter We revived them to find out which of the two parties could best calculate the length of their stay. 12
