Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 (And remind people) when he said to his father: "Father! Why do you worship that which neither sees nor hears, and which can be of no avail to you? 42 O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 O my father, I fear lest a punishment from Ar-Rahman should befall you, and you should become a friend of the Devil." 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 Abraham answered: "Peace be upon you. I shall seek pardon for you from my Lord. My Lord has always been kind to Me. 47 And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy." 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor. 50
