[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance] 25 And ease my task for me; 26 Remove the defect of my tongue 27 That they may understand my speech, 28 And appoint for me a minister from my household. 29 "Harun (Aaron), my brother; 30 "Increase my strength with him, 31 and let him share my task, 32 so that [together] we might abundantly extol Thy limitless glory 33 and may remember You much. 34 Surely Thou seest into us.' 35 He said: You are indeed granted your petition, O Musa 36 We have bestowed Our favour on you before this 37 "When We inspired your mother with that which We inspired. 38 "Saying: 'Put him (the child) into the Tabut (a box or a case or a chest) and put it into the river (Nile), then the river shall cast it up on the bank, and there, an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his shall take him.' And I endued you with love from Me, in order that you may be brought up under My Eye, 39 "Behold! thy sister goeth forth and saith, 'shall I show you one who will nurse and rear the (child)?' So We brought thee back to thy mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve. Then thou didst slay a man, but We saved thee from trouble, and We tried thee in various ways. Then didst thou tarry a number of years with the people of Midian. Then didst thou come hither as ordained, O Moses! 40 And I formed thee for Myself. 41 Go with My signs, you and your brother, and do not be lax in remembering Me. 42 Go both of you to the Pharaoh; he has become a rebel. 43 Then speak to him a gentle word haply he may mind or fear. 44 They said: "O our Lord, we are really frightened lest he behave insolently with us or become violent." 45 God said, "Do not fear; I am with you both. I hear and I see. 46 So go you both to Pharaoh, and say, "We are the Messengers of thy Lord, so send forth with us the Children of Israel and chastise them not; we have brought thee a sign from thy Lord; and peace be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 "'Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn away.'" 48 He asked: "Who then is that Lord of yours, O Moses?" 49 [Musa (Moses)] said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each thing its form and nature, then guided it aright." 50 Pharaoh asked: "Then, what is the state of the former generations?" 51 [Moses] answered: "Knowledge thereof rests with my Sustainer [alone, and is laid down] in His decree; my Sustainer does not err, and neither does He forget." 52 He it is Who spread the earth for you; and made in it paths for you, and sent down water from the sky, and then through it We brought forth many species of diverse plants. 53 You eat and let your cattle graze' Surely, in this there are signs for those of understanding. 54
