And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 But they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 He (Moses) said to Aaron: 'When you saw them in error, what prevented you, 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 He said: Begone then, surely for you it will be in this life to say, Touch (me) not; and surely there is a threat for you, which shall not be made to fail to you, and look at your god to whose worship you kept (so long); we will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter it a (wide) scattering in the sea. 97 Your God is only Allah, the One other than whom there is no god. He comprehendeth everything in knowledge. 98 Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us the Qur'an. 99 Whoever turns away from it, will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection. 100 As abiders therein. And vile will it be for them on the Day of Judgment as a load! 101 On the day the Trumpet is blown; and We shall muster the sinners upon that day with eyes staring, 102 whispering unto one another, "You have spent but ten [days on earth] 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
