Certainly Aaron had said to them even before (the return of Moses): "My people, you were fallen into error because of the calf. Surely your Lord is Most Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command." 90 They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Musa (Moses) returns to us." 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 That thou followedst me not? Hast thou then disobeyed my order? 93 He [Harun (Aaron)] said: "O son of my mother! Seize (me) not by my beard, nor by my head! Verily, I feared lest you should say: 'You have caused a division among the Children of Israel, and you have not respected my word!' " 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 Moses said: "Be gone, then. All your life you shall cry: 'Untouchable.' There awaits a term for your reckoning that you cannot fail to keep. Now look at your god that you devotedly adored: We shall burn it and scatter its remains in the sea. 97 Your Lord is the One who is the only God and He has the knowledge of all things. 98 Thus We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) some information of what happened before. And indeed We have given you from Us a Reminder (this Quran). 99 Whoever turns away from it will surely carry a burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,- 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]." 103 We know best what they say, when the fairest of them in course would say: You tarried but a day. 104
