And when We said to the angels: Make obeisance to Adam, they made obeisance, but Iblis (did it not); he refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! Verily, this is an enemy to you and to your wife. So let him not get you both out of Paradise, so that you be distressed in misery. 117 “Indeed for you in heaven is that you may never be hungry nor be unclothed.” 118 thirst, or exposure to the hot Sun." 119 Then the Satan whispered unto him; he said: Adam! shall I direct thee to the tree of eternity and a dominion that ageth not? 120 Then they both ate of it, so their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with leaves of the garden, and Adam disobeyed his Lord, so his life became evil (to him). 121 Thereafter his Lord chose him, and turned again unto him, and He guided him. 122 Said He, 'Get you down, both of you together, out of it, each of you an enemy to each; but if there comes to you from Me guidance, then whosoever follows My guidance shall not go astray, neither shall he be unprosperous; 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." 124 He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing?" 125 God will say, "Just as Our signs came to you and you ignored them, so will you on this Day be ignored." 126 And thus do We requite him who transgresses beyond bounds [i.e. commits the great sins and disobeys his Lord (Allah) and believes not in His Messengers, and His revealed Books, like this Quran, etc.], and believes not in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, and the torment of the Hereafter is far more severe and more lasting. 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them, amid whose dwellings they walk? Lo! therein verily are signs for men of thought. 128
