۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They said, "Have you brought us the truth or are you jesting?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
