۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said: "We heard a youth talk about them. He is called Abraham." 60 They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." 61 They said, 'So, art thou the man who did this unto our gods, Abraham?' 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
