A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then the shout laid hold of them in truth, and We made them a refuse; so away with the wrong-doing people! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 And said: "Should we believe in two men like yourselves, whose people are our subjects?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
