But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
