Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, 18 And you did (that) deed of yours which you did, and you are one of the ungrateful. 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Said Firaun, “And what is the Lord Of The Creation? 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
