And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 "My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
