And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 no caring friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
