And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
