And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
