And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 and no sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
