And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
