Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
