And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
